Paolo Bordignon, harpsichordist, in recital

  • The Chapel at St. Bartholomew's Church 325 Park Avenue New York, NY, 10022 United States (map)

With Katie Hyun (violin), Edson Sheid (violin), Stephen Goist (viola), Sarah Stone (cello), and Wen Yang (bass).

Following the past two seasons’ sold-out concerts, Paolo Bordignon performs Bach's Partita No. 4 in D Major (BWV 838), Mozart’s wonderful yet rarely heard Suite in C (K. 399), and Suite from “Capriccio” by Richard Strauss.* To conclude the program, he will be joined by an ensemble of strings for Bach’s Concerto in D Major (BWV 1054).

*Richard Strauss’s final opera, Capriccio, includes a scene with harpsichord, violin, & cello playing baroque dances on stage in the middle ground, simultaneous to sung dialogue in the foreground. (This is similar to Don Giovanni.) Strauss composed a new finale for this concert version for solo harpsichord.
