The 2019–20 Great Music at St. Bart’s season offers a survey of centuries of great music from the world over, from one of the most compelling weekly series of early music in the US to cutting-edge new works from today’s highly innovative composers. In addition to featuring a stunning array of world-class performers, the series showcases two of New York’s most inspiring concert venues: St. Bart’s intimate and acoustically brilliant 150-seat chapel; and the majestic 900-seat church, an architectural marvel whose Aeolian-Skinner pipe organ is the largest in New York City and one of the finest examples of the American Classic Organ, suited to convincingly play the entire corpus of great organ literature.
Great Music at St. Bart’s has truly established its place in the rich cultural tapestry of New York City.
Great Music is produced by the Mid-Manhattan Performing Arts Foundation, an independent 501(c)(3) corporation established to cultivate, promote, sponsor and develop the understanding and love of the performing arts as presented at St. Bartholomew’s Church, a treasured masterpiece of architecture on the east side of Manhattan’s midtown, now elegantly outfitted with comfortable cathedral chairs enabling the utmost variety in flexible seating.
The corporation sponsors performances of music, dance, drama and other performing arts as well as the exhibition of works in the film and fine arts genre. Welcome to St. Bart’s and our 2019–2020 season of great music!
